Get rid of the "i can't play guitar" attitude!

Get rid of the "i can't play guitar" attitude!

I know a lot of people that says “guitar playing its not for me”, or “i can’t play guitar”. I was just like that, i tried a lot of guitar teachers and guitar lessons and it seemed like i was just running in circles and i was learning NOTHING! I was like that for a whole year, most people would think that they just suck and quit guitar forever.

I kept searching until i found a guitar teacher that actually knew how to teach me and make me understand stuff that seemed so hard or complicated and they actually were… really, really simple!

Now here are 3 tips to get rid of the “i can’t play guitar” attitude

1- Search for a teacher that likes the music styles you like and is even better if he plays in a band you would like to play (don’t ask for Jimmy Page haha), a lot of guitarists from underground bands can teach you.

2- Jam with friends, nothing is better to improve your skills with the guitar than jam with other people. You can learn some stuff by playing guitar alone but you will learn a lot more if you play with friends! Don’t be shy or whatever if they’re really advanced and you’re just a beginner… the more your friends know, the more you can learn by playing with them!

3- Download some Classic Rock guitar pro tabs and learn how to play them, Classic Rock songs use to be easy and a lot of fun to play. If you don’t have Guitar Pro you can download it HERE

5 tips to buy your first electric Guitar

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

your first guitarIf you’re looking for your first electric guitar and don’t know what to buy, this post is for you.

We all have been trough it, what do i need to buy?
If you have a big budget the thing is a little bit easier but if your budget is limited you will want to make every penny worth.

1- Look for people who want to sell their used guitars, sometimes you can get good guitars for a great price! (do the same if you are looking for an amp) but go with a friend that plays guitar or with  your guitar teacher cause  they can tell you if the guitar is fine, sometimes a guitar can look great but buzz like a beast, so let somebody who have experience give you an opinion.

2- You can give a try to guitar packs and combos (like the one in the pic), they come with everything you need to start playing, a guitar, an amp, picks, plugs, strap, electronic tuner, whatever… and  sometimes they include some kind of DVD or guitar books with basic lessons. So if you are in a low budget you can go with this and get everything you need in just one shot.

3- If you have enough money for a great guitar and a great amp but then you will not have money for lessons… DON’T DO IT! if you’re just starting is way better to have at least lessons for 6 months, and if the teacher is good you will be able to continue by yourself.

4- Don’t buy the cheapest thing around just cause it’s cheap, sometimes cheap stuff can be expensive! Maybe you’ll need to fix the bridge, change pickups, buy a new neck, etc. If you buy something cheap make sure that it works.

5- The most important thing is to feel comfortable with your guitar cause you need to spend time with it to learn. Enjoy your guitar and play a lot!

If you’re in a low budget you have to look at this guitars and packs, they’re cheap but they are all you need to start playing, then you can buy something better later. Don’t wait to have a lot of money to start playing cause that way you’re wasting time… PLAY NOW!
